Our Work U.S.A.

Our work in the U.S.A centers around the The U.S.-Africa Schools Partnering Initiative (USASPI) designed to expand the horizons of both sets of children by authentically connecting them through penpaling. The handwritten letters give a geographical, cultural and contemporary dimension to the reality that we are more interconnected than distance might suggest.

A new program – “Concrete Steps” – started during the Coronavirus pandemic is being piloted as a long term solution to the persistent inequalities in the education and the digital space. The individualized tutoring program uses the agency children have gained through remote learning, and leverages it to empower parents to provide the help their children need to reach their educational goals.

The program is currently for children in the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia) regardless of what type of school they attend – public or private.
